Get Your Project Started

Updated: Jan 18

Recently I’ve received a handful of sweet messages from close friends and acquaintances expressing how they feel about me and the content that I’ve been putting out on socials. It honestly is fuel to my fire.

I’m going to share a text I received that was very special to me. The purpose is to inspire you to believe that when you follow your dream and pursue what’s in your heart, people can perceive your courage and are ultimately blessed by it.

This is not to brag. I want you to imagine how it would make you feel to get a message like this one:

This morning my husband and I were talking about you while at the beach. We were admiring how beautiful you look and how all the things that you are transmitting are amazing!! You are giving an example of strength, overcoming struggles and so much more. You are radiant. You are an example of a woman for all of us. Even through a screen on social media you transmit what many people haven’t been able to. You are in the best moment of your life. Don’t let anything stop you.

After receiving this text, how empowered would you feel to continue to work and put out content?

I want YOU to create a life that you love. Pursuing your dreams is part of that. I can’t do it for you but I can give you some pointers to lead you in the right direction.

There are a handful of things that I am convinced will get you started on that project that you’ve always wanted to do but have never gotten around to starting. In this blog I’m going to give you three. Stay tuned next week for the rest!

1. DEFINE YOUR MESSAGE

Whether you are starting up a small business, designing a new brand or launching a new ministry, you’ll have a greater chance of succeeding if you’re clear of why you’re doing it in the first place. From a business perspective, your idea has potential if you are able to solve somebody’s problem.

What problem do you want to solve for someone else?

When I became a single mom my eyes opened to the reality of a huge group of people that don’t fit into the “married” or “single” categories of the population. Our needs are different. Our struggles are different. Our responsibilities are different.

I knew my message would be to teach people how to celebrate life even through difficulty. One day I asked myself, “how many women and men are currently going through this transition in life and don’t know how they could possibly turn their losses into something with purpose?

Enter “Create a Life You Love”. My message is not a call to perfection. It is a call to gratefulness. It doesn’t matter where I stand in life today, I’m grateful and I believe that it is a hallway that is leading me to a better tomorrow.

I want my audience to see that. I want you to know deep down in your heart that through pain, there is hope.

2. ALIGN YOUR HEART

Y'all this is a daily task. Our hearts are so self-centered that it is easy to make everything about us.

One of the ways that I practice aligning my heart is by remembering who I write for. I write to bless a powerful woman stuck in day to day life. She is my target audience. I want to inspire her and give her hope.

(In the process I know I will inevitable reach other people that don’t fit that description… that’s a bonus! Don’t leave if that’s you. lol This is for you too!)

Sadly, I sometimes find myself posting to feed my ego. When I see myself going down that path, I try to be intentional about bringing myself back to focus. Why? Because there is no reward in that. So what if I got a lot of likes or a lot of views. So what if a gained 10 followers. Did I bless a life? Did I make someone’s day just a bit better? That is where the real reward is.

Here’s what I want you to know, there is no once-and-done when it comes to our heart. We will have to check it and align it with our purpose again and again until we graduate to heaven.

But you know what? That’s okay! No story is fun without a plot. The fact that we are imperfect beings makes the journey that much more interesting.

3. EXECUTE IDEAS

Here is the good stuff! Your dream was born from an idea.

This morning I was listening to a Tony Robbins video and he said something that stuck. He said:

“Knowledge is not power. Knowledge is potential. Knowledge is trumped every day by execution.”

Everything that I have accomplished so far has been because I had an idea and I was intentional about making it happen. You can read this blog today and think “I’ll execute tomorrow” but tomorrow will more than likely become 2030. You’ll look back and think how much time you wasted! So don’t wait until tomorrow. Start today.

I’m going to give you an example!

If you’ve followed me for some time you know that my friends and I love to skate. We do it often. We do it together. We do it on our own. It’s a hobby we picked up during quarantine and it’s been an excuse to bring us together in a season where many are struggling with loneliness.

Often, after we post our skate stories on IG, we’ve all received messages from friends expressing how they would love to join us for some fun in the sun.

The other day, I started wondering (here’s the idea part I was talking about) if there was a national skating day and if so, when? So I asked my uncle Google. To my surprise, October is NATIONAL SKATING MONTH! How exciting is that?

I messaged my girlfriends and shared with them my crazy idea. What if we celebrated national skating month on a specific day in October and invited all those ladies that have already been wanting to join?!

As a result, here is my invitation to YOU!

Buy or borrow a pair a skates and meet us on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at South Point Park in Miami at 7:00am.

If you can’t make it at that time, that’s okay! Get a couple of your girlfriends and skate around your neighborhood but don’t forget to tag me in your stories and hashtag #CreateALifeYouLove

I simply can’t wait. There’s so many ladies that I haven’t seen in forever! There so may of you I’m going to meet for the first time! It’s going to be SO MUCH FUN!

See? An idea… executed!

TO BE CONTINUED

Girlfriend, next week I’m going to share with you 3 more tips to get you started on your dream. In the meantime, you have homework! Write down your message, align your heart and execute an idea. I would love to hear about it in my DM’s as well!

THIS is what creating a life you love is all about.

I love you!
